Dimosthenis Stratigopoulos

Dιmosthenιs Stratigopoulos, who is currently Assistant Professor in Greek Palaeography, gained an undergraduate degree in Ancient and Modern Greek Literature from the School of Philosophy at the National Capodistrian University of Athens, where he subsequently did a post-graduate degree. He also studied at post-graduate level in the Department of Philology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where he was subsequently awarded a doctorate in Medieval and Modern Greek. 
From 1993 to 2002, he worked in secondary education, teaching ancient and modern Greek language and literature.  From 2002 to 2011, he was Lecturer in Modern Greek, appointed by the Greek Ministry of Education, in the School of Philosophy, at the University of Niş, Serbia.  In the Department of History and Ethnology of the Democritus University of Thrace, he taught Greek palaeography as Adjunct Lecturer in 2008 – 2009 and since 2013 has been teaching there as a regular member of the teaching and research staff. 
His research interests include: Greek palaeography, Byzantine and post-Byzantine hymnography, hagiology, the history of books for the liturgy, Greek manuscripts and antique books in Thrace and schedography.
