Department’s Infrastructure

The Department of Humanities has the necessary infrastructure and equipment to support the distance teaching of the academic staff in the Postgraduate Programme “Cultural Studies: Modern Hellenism and the Balkans”, as well as any potential in-person activities (conferences, workshops, academic meetings, etc.).

Specifically, the Department offers:

  • 2 classrooms with a capacity of 125 people, which can be used for hosting workshops, conferences, meetings, and lectures within the Postgraduate Programme that may also be open to the public.
  • 2 classrooms with a capacity of 45 people, suitable for activities with smaller participation.
  • 1 multi-purpose classroom with a capacity of 30 people, which can be used for various activities requiring electronic equipment (e.g., projector, projection screen, power supply for electronic devices).

All five aforementioned classrooms are equipped with technological tools for displaying educational material and have internet access.

  • 5 specialized laboratories (1. Physical Anthropology, 2. Paleography, 3. Folklore and Social Anthropology, 4. Modern and Contemporary History and Historical Education, 5. Technology, Research and Applications in Education). Each lab has sufficient space and technological equip-ment to meet the specific teaching or research needs of postgraduate students. Additionally, the Laboratory of Technology, Research, and Applications in Education, due to its specialized equipment, facilitates the distance delivery of courses and lectures.
  • Library, which houses approximately 30.000 volumes, including series of academic journals covering most disciplines taught in the Department, as well as collections of scientific and local journals.
  • Accessibility: The Department’s building is equipped with an elevator, ensuring access to all the aforementioned facilities for individuals with disabilities or special educational needs, thereby supporting their full participation in educational and research activities without barriers.
